ACD Applauds Senate Commerce Committee for Advancing Nomination of Richard Kloster to Serve as STB Board Member

Arlington, VA – Today, Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) President and CEO Eric R. Byer released the following statement after the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation voted to advance the nomination of Richard Kloster as a member of the Surface Transportation Board (STB):

“With decades of experience with the rail supply chain, Richard Kloster will offer an important perspective as the STB evaluates the far-reaching impacts of the proposed Union Pacific-Norfolk Southern rail merger. We applaud the Senate Commerce Committee for advancing his nomination and urge the full Senate to quickly confirm him. At this critical juncture, it is imperative for the STB to uphold its high standard for merger review rules and thoughtfully consider the significant consequences that any merger will have on shippers’ daily operations. ACD looks forward to working with Mr. Kloster to ensure the U.S. supply chain remains competitive and our members can continue to effectively deliver the chemical products essential to Americans’ daily lives.”
