As summer temperatures continue to rise, there’s no better time to talk about what ACD members can expect this summer and what precautions businesses can take to protect workers from extreme temperatures.
As one of ACD’s core pillars, advocacy is central to everything we do in support of the chemical distribution industry. We take this responsibility seriously as the regulatory landscape of chemical distribution is constantly changing. Throughout the year, we partner with lawmakers to help us advance policies that support the competitiveness of our industry and the countless other industries our members serve.
The first 100 days of a presidency are seen as a symbolic period often used to measure the early success of an administration. This time is often marked by a flurry of activity and the implementation of new policies. This may never have been more true than the first 100 days of President Trump’s second term. With all of the changes the last 100 days have brought, we are reflecting on the headwinds and tailwinds the chemical distribution industry is now facing and how that will impact the chemical distribution industry, our supply chain partners, and – ultimately – the American people.
This March, ACD is honoring Women’s History Month by celebrating the dedicated women who are leading the way in the chemical distribution industry.
As ACD members and stakeholders know, the work the chemical distribution industry does to safely and efficiently transport chemical products is critical to countless sectors, including the manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, and defense industries. Due to the role the chemical distribution industry has in our supply chain, providing the essential products Americans rely on, we are increasingly targeted by bad actors, requiring us to remain more vigilant than ever before.
Over the last few days, I have received many member calls, texts, and emails about how the recently announced tariffs from President Trump would impact our industry. While I have tried to respond to all of these inquiries, I thought it would be beneficial to share my thoughts in writing via this blog.
Does someone in your team go above and beyond in their day-to-day role, but doesn’t necessarily get the credit they deserve? Are they a standard bearer for the industry? Do they work tirelessly to represent you, your business, or ACD?
To describe the past several months in ocean shipping as bumpy would be an understatement. In October, the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) went on strike when it could not reach an agreement with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), the association representing their employers. The strike lasted four days until a tentative agreement was reached, with a second deadline set for mid-January.
The dedicated members of the Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) play a crucial role in ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality chemical products that are essential to our daily lives. Over the years, our members have broadened the base of the industries they support to include paint and coatings, general manufacturing, water treatment, petroleum, automotive, energy markets, and more. One sector, however, stands out among the rest this holiday season: household cleaners and personal care.
Last week marked a truly special moment for our Alliance as we took part in our 2024 Annual Meeting in the stunning La Quinta, California. This year, as we gathered with 667 of our members, industry leaders, and innovators, we celebrated not only a milestone year but also the one-year anniversary of our rebranding as the Alliance for Chemical Distribution. Under the theme “Connecting the Experts Our World Depends On,” we explored how ACD continues to empower excellence in our field, setting new standards in performance and deepening our industry’s impact across North America.
