ACD and AFPM Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Arlington, VA – Earlier this month, the Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD) and the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), effective May 12, 2026, to enhance collaboration throughout their shared supply chain. The MOU seeks to expand cooperation on rail issues affecting members of both organizations, increase mutual awareness of legislative and regulatory issues, and explore collaboration on non-competitive services offered by both organizations.

After signing the MOU, Eric R. Byer, President and CEO of ACD, and Chet Thompson, President and CEO of AFPM, welcomed the new partnership.

“Amid a rapidly shifting supply chain with disruptions and uncertainty across the regulatory and legislative landscape, inter-industry cooperation is paramount to the success and competitiveness of the American economy,” said ACD President and CEO Eric R. Byer. “In signing this memorandum of understanding, we reaffirm our commitment to collaboration that will undoubtedly enhance the value and safety of our industries today and in the years to come.”

“ACD is a great partner, and when we work together, we can be even more effective advocates for our industries and our members,” said AFPM President and CEO Chet Thompson. “AFPM is pleased to sign onto this MOU and continue our fight, alongside ACD, for America’s petrochemical manufacturers and chemical distributors.”
