When you become a member of the Alliance for Chemical Distribution (ACD), you gain much more than just advocacy support, compliance assistance, and educational opportunities – you become a part of a larger community. Connections drive ACD’s work, and that’s something we’ve always prioritized. From networking opportunities during in-person meetings to longer-term membership programs, ACD proudly fosters a dynamic professional network and community. In a time of immense change and uncertainty, these connections have become more valuable than ever before.
Take ACD’s Leadership Institute as a prime example. We’ve built this initiative to not only foster the next generation of leaders but also help our members develop their professional network. By establishing a community of fellow chemical distribution peers at varying levels of career progression and experience, the participants gain an ever-more connected and supportive set of colleagues around the industry, in a non-competitive atmosphere. As part of the Leadership Institute, ACD built three programs along the career trajectory: Aspiring Leaders, Emerging Leaders, and Executive Leaders.
Now in its thirteenth year, our two-year Emerging Leaders Program puts together a diverse cohort of professionals ready to step into more advanced leadership roles within their current organizations. Members of this program are most often employees who have been identified for advancement by senior leadership and typically have between five and seven years of experience. For the first time, the second-year class of the 2026 Emerging Leaders cohort will participate in a capstone project to showcase their progress and become certified in the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative (ELI) curriculum.
In its second year, the Aspiring Leaders program is targeted for early-career professionals in the chemical distribution industry who aspire to reach a variety of skills and management goals. It is tailored to those who have less than five years of professional experience but who demonstrate exceptional dedication to their companies. Members of the program demonstrate commitment to the principles of Responsible Distribution, environmental stewardship, and ethical leadership, keeping ACD’s values at the core of their professional development and the growth of our industry.
ACD’s Executive Leaders Program, which also debuted in 2025, is designed for professionals in senior leadership roles with over eight years of experience. This cohort is comprised of professionals with a record of accomplishment in cross-functional leadership and decision-making.
During ACD’s 2025 Annual Meeting, 20 individuals were recognized as graduates of the inaugural class of the Executive Leadership program and 21 in the Emerging Leaders program.
The opportunities provided by participation in any Leadership Institute program are designed with a key goal in mind: advancing key professional skills and building stronger networks. Over the course of these programs, members are encouraged to engage with other leaders during regional meetings, the Annual Meeting, and other ACD events. Together, they forge strategic partnerships and connections for the growth of their companies and careers.
ACD works to create a culture of mutual respect and collaboration, which we believe is best achieved on the foundation of a connected community.
